I was given the opportunity to learn the real estate business from some of the most talented people in the industry during my nines years at JMB Realty working with the principals who went on to create or run Walton Street Capital, the real estate group at Blackstone, Heitman, Urban Shopping Centers, and Greenfield Partners. During my tenure at JMB I participated in acquisitions (single asset and company), dispositions, development, financing and loan restructuring, investment and tax structuring, asset management and investor relations. I spent a three of my nine years at JMB assigned to the acquisition and management of Cadillac Fairview.The skills I developed at JMB I put to use during my tenure at LaSalle Partners and Trizec Properties where I open offices in Paris (LaSalle Partners), New York and Washington DC (Trizec). I lead or participated in three portfolio or company acquisitions and was primarily responsible for the $125 million redevelopment and master lease by the State of Michigan of the 1.4 million square foot former GM World Headquarters. I was responsible for a portfolio of 68 million square feet of office assets, generating gross revenues in excess of a billion dollars. I became skilled at being transactional while creating management infrastructure. My focus would shift as needed from providing high-level strategy to the granularity required to close specific transactions.A significant amount of my efforts from mid 2011 through the mid 2016 has been functioning as a interim CFO / COO for a privately held residential development firm, focusing first on multi-family from capitalization through sale and now capitalizing and reestablishing their for sale activities.Working with a former Trizec colleague, Jim Solomon, we are growing Ravinia Capital Group with the same focus, hard work and determination we harnessed at Trizec.
