I received the M.A.Sc. degree in Electronic Eng. (receiving the National Award to the Best Academic Record), in 1995, the degree in Physics (majoring in Electronics), in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Eng., in 1999, all from the University of Granada. I was an Associate Professor at the Dept. of Computer Engineering of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid before joining the Dept. of Electronics and Computer Technology at the University of Granada, where I currently serve as a Full Professor. I have authored more than 130 technical papers in international journals and conferences. I serve as reviewer for several journals and have been part of the Program Committee for several international conferences on programmable logic. I am a Senior Member of IEEE and a CAS and SP Society member.My research interests include digital and analog programmable technologies for smart instruments and biosignal processing, IP protection of FPGA and IoT systems, low-power and high-performance signal processing systems, and computer arithmetic. My current research is mainly devoted to:1. Development of low-cost, portable instruments for biosignal monitoring. These instruments are based on reconfigurable technologies (FPGA, FPAA and SoC) and integrate specific digital signal processing techniques for biosignal, such as wavelet denoising or clustering classification. Their main field of application is ECG analysis, with applications to wearable monitors and fetal heart rate monitoring.2. Development of new AI accelerators based on reconfigurable hardware for a variety of applications, including Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces and biosignal classification.3. Application of low-cost reconfigurable techniques to power applications, IoT devices, and cryptoprocessors.
