Graphic Designer
Current• Collaborate with Health Department colleagues including the Chief of Staff, Chief Operating Officer, leadership, and the Publications team, which produces over 1000 items per year for consumption by 8.8 million New Yorkers, to plan, implement and coordinate design of select communications materials for the agency.• Design collateral from concept to completion, across various media, including digital and print. Content includes creating assets and layouts for agency social media accounts to collaborating with the Publications team on public-facing advertisements, reports, flyers, pamphlets, booklets, signage, banners and handouts that promote agency work and expand its service delivery for public-facing Health Department programs.• Directly supervise design assistants on developing concepts that promote agency business, including flyers, handouts and brochures. Provide timely design direction, offering feedback or coaching to help build upon and improve their creative and technical skills, maximizing the quality of work produced.• Conduct strategic planning for the Bureau of Communications’ promotional design needs by creating and implementing policies that ensure all project design files are saved and packaged reliably and consistently for vendors and printing, adhering to developed project and file naming conventions.• Enforce and build upon agency branding standards and guidelines that set requirements and best practices in design with accessibility as a priority, while advising on scope and design for new programmatic endeavors, providing helpful direction and efficiency for the agency.• Define standards and practices for photo and image asset collection for the Publications team, and conduct photography research and photo-related requests, while providing guidance on image use best practices and agency standards.• Devise and deliver expedited design solutions for urgent agency business requests requiring immediate response.
