António H. J. Moreira is currently Pro-President for Pedagogical Innovation and Educational Projects and Associate Professor at Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Portugal. In 2016, he obtained the PhD degree in Industrial Electronics and Computer Engineering from the University of Minho, Portugal. During the PhD is work was mainly focused on the development of a “Dental implants’ acquisition system for personalized dental prosthesis” and customized software solutions to aid the dental prosthesis development. It also developed image processing applications to speed up and standardize biomedical image analysis.In 2009, he finished his master thesis focused in real-time embedded control systems for human machine interfaces applied to customized industrial equipment’s.António H. J. The cell is designed to run on a continuous cycle with flexible user programming.- Variable coil opening PCB transport system (IKUSI): The system consisted in custom built belt conveyor for PCBs with an electromechanically tool to open simultaneously 40 coils at 30 degrees and with a subsequent inspection zone. The system was developed using a CANBus-based communication for I/O control, an RS485 bus for motor control and an AVR embedded system specially developed for HMI and control. C/C++ Programing.- Screw cell for automotive blends (Delphi): The design consists of 4 independent screwing cells with online robot programming (Janome), error reporting, torque logging, angle and time of each screw. The cells allowed automatic recognition of the PCB to be screwed, allowing up to 3 different screw profiles for each base type. HMI and system control implemented in the C# programming language.- System of counting of bases of transport of PCBs: The system consists of independent modules for counting the passage of the bases in an existing manufacturing line. It allows placement in any position of the line with indication of OK or washing of the necessary base. The system is based on AVR microcontrollers and Zigbee wireless communication modules, not interfering with the existing installation.
