I am an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), having received my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in May 2012. Previously, I served in various roles at the UNLV School of Nursing, including teaching, research, and post-doctoral work. I have over 5 years of experience in grant proposal preparation from a variety of funding agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Health Resources and Services Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. My primary roles during my tenure at the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education (CMSEE) involved assisting faculty from the three member colleges—Education, Engineering, and Sciences—in: finding STEM- and STEM education-related grant opportunities; preparing the technical aspects of grants; developing budgets; grant submission; and managing funded projects. In my current role as Assistant Professor of Research in the Department of Curriculum, Foundations, and Reading at Georgia Southern University, I teach research methods and statistics courses and I conduct research on the role of motivation and metacognitive strategy training on students' performance, confidence judgments, and calibration under the theory of self-regulated learning; the latent dimensions of calibration, as a cognitive construct; and, more recently, how various factors of the academic environment influence faculty members' intent to either stay or leave the academe.Specialties: Research methods; statistical analysis (SPSS; EQS; HLM; SAS; AMOS); teaching; translation and interpreting (English/Spanish); grant writing and grants management; preparation of research policies and standard operating procedures for the appropriate conduct of research; establishing community networks; research project management; experience with preparation and submission of research manuscripts for peer-review; Program evaluations.
