I am an architect. I live in a small town in NW Spain. I opened my own studio in 1990, bought my first PC and a pen plotter and taught myself AutoCAD (r.2.6). My interest in technology took me to Helsinki in 1995, where I discovered ArchiCAD. A few months later I made the leap from CAD to BIM for good.Having used the BIM methodology since 1996 on my own projects and working as a freelance consultant for various industry professionals and companies, with Zigurat Institute of Technology, created the International Master in BIM Management, certified by the University of Barcelona, BREAcademy and Canadian BIM Council, of which I was the director from 2014 to 2019.Representative of buildingSMART Spanish Chapter in the Summits of Singapore (2015) Rotterdam and Seoul (2016), London and Barcelona (2017), Paris and Tokyo (2018), and Düsseldorf and Beijing (2019), and member of the Professional Certification Program (2016 - 2019).Convinced of the need and usefulness of openBIM, I am part of buildingSMART Spanish Chapter, having been the representative of Spain in the Professional Certification Committee of buildingSMART International from 2015 to 2021.I currently develop all my professional activity through my architecture studio (www.atort.com).
