This year the PEFCR Feed will be subject to a light update, which includes the update to the new EF 3.1 database and the update in accordance to the new PEF Guidance. Together with representatives of the feed industry and NGO's I will be part of the review panel, and will take the role as chair.

CJ Selecta is performing a Carbon Footprint assessment for the Soy Protein Concentrate (SPC) they produce. As Europe is a significant sales market for their SPC, alignement of this Carbon Footprint to the PEFCR Feed, is crucial. In this project I provide CJ Selecta technical guidance in aligning their assessment to the PEFCr Feed.

Supporting the CoViVa (Coalition Vital Pig production, in Dutch Coalitie Vitale Varkenshouderij) to come to one standard methodology for assessing the carbon footprint of (Dutch) pig meat. First step is to compare the already existing carbon footprint tools (developend and owned by individual meat processors), to get inside in similarities and differences. The purpose of the second step is to develop, based on gained insights from step 1, one standard methodology for assessing the carbon footprint in pig meat production. This standard methodology is being developed in close cooperation with stakeholders (pig producers, feed industry,meat processors) and Wageningen Livestock Research.

For a Dutch retailer and a bottling company we are conducting a carbon footprint study on orange juice, produced from Barzilian oranges. In this study we assess as much as possible primary data along the value chain (from cradle to gate supermarket). To obtain the required data we cooperate closely with relevant parties (Brazilian orange concetrate producers, bottling company and retailer). Kool Planet operates as sub contractor of Impact Buying in this project.

I provide several animal feed companies technical and strategic support, in general concerning sustainability in the animal production chain and specifically concerning quantifying environmental impacts.

The ikwileerlijkezuivel.nl initiative aims to offer more margin to the dairy farmer and improving sustainability on the farm. In this initiative I provide technical assistance on getting insight in sustainabiility performance (using KPI's) of dairy farmers

Kool Analysis & Advice supports Blonk Consultants in a number of projects with practical knowledge of the (primary) agro/food sector in relation to the sustainability impact. Recently research has been done on climate emissions in Dutch greenhouse horticulture, feasibility study of potentially more sustainable raw materials in the animal feed sector, practical approach for determining climate emissions in pig farming and sustainability analysis of urban agriculture initiatives.

I developed this tool which enables Nevedi (dutch feed producers organisation) members to calculate the specific carbon footprint of compound feed processing at their plant(s). This is part of the development to increasingly align the Nevedi database with the PEFCR Feed standard.

Kool Planet ondersteunt de Nederlandse vereniging voor de diervoederindustrie (Nevedi) in het proces om te komen tot bruikbaar inzicht in de duurzaamheidsprestatie van veevoederproductie. Aandachtspunten zijn het aansluiten op internationale ontwikkelingen in methodiek en data en aansluiten bij de vraag naar duurzaamheidsinformatie vanuit afnemende ketenpartijen.

On several levels I support Climate Neutral Goup (CNG). As manager, CNG is currently working on a thorough renewal of the label Climate Neutral Guaranteed. In this process I contribute to a good substantive basis for this program. In addition, I carry out and verify Carbon Footprint analyses for various parties in various sectors. Furthermore, I provide training and manage employees in the field of LCA and footprinting.

De Kringloopwijzer wordt door vrijwel alle Nederlandse melkveehouders gebruikt om de milieuimpact van melkproductie op hun bedrijf inzichtelijk te maken. In opdracht van ZuivelNL en Wageningen University and Research (eigenaar/ontwikkelaar) heeft Kool Planet het onderdeel broeikasgasemissies getoetst aan de criteria van de PEFCR Dairy. De PEFCR Dairy (Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules) is de Europese richtlijn voor bepaling van de milieufootprint van zuivelproducten opgesteld door de Europese zuivelsector in samenwerking met de Europese Commissie. Bij de toetsing is in beeld gebracht in hoeverre de KringloopWijzer voldoet, wat de afwijkingen zijn en welke stappen nodig zijn om op de afwijkende punten wel conform de PEFCR Dairy te werken. Het resultaat van deze toetsing wordt door ZuivelNL en WUR gebruikt om te bepalen hoe de KringloopWijzer verder ontwikkeld zal worden.

Guidance from SMK in the process to define an assessment system and standards for CO2 emissions in (mainly_ greenhouse horticulture within the On the way to PlanetProof sustainability certificate. In this process, I translated the theoretical background of quantifying CO2 emissions into a practical interpretation for growers who want to certify themselves for PlanetProof. We did this in close cooperation with stakeholders from practice and research (WECR). As of January 2020, this component will be included in the renewed certification scheme On the way to PlanetProof.

In collaboration with CLM Research & Advice and Blonk Consultants I mapped the environmental footprint of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs. With this insight Van den Bos Flowerbulbs can focus on improving its sustainability performance.The collaboration between CLM, Blonk and the undersigned brought a lot of added value in terms of both content and process. We, and our client, therefore look back on a successful project.

Kool Planet ondersteunt SMK bij de transitie van het Groen Label Kas certificatieschema*. De overheid heeft het kader van de Regeling groenprojecten gewijzigd waarbij de focus is verlegd van stimulering van energie-efficency naar reductie van de CO2-emissie van kassen. Dit gewijzigde overheidskader dient omgezet te worden naar concrete en werkbare criteria in het Groen Label Kas certificatieschema. Kool Planet ondersteunt en adviseert SMK hierbij door inbreng van relevante expertise over het kwantificeren van CO2-emissies en het vertalen van beleidsdoelen in concrete en werkbare criteria. * Indien een nieuw gebouwde tuinbouwkas voldoet aan de criteria van het Groen Label Kas certificaat dan komt de tuinder daarmee in aanmerking voor fiscale regelingen (MIA/Vamil) en/of rentevoordeel bij leningen (Regeling groenprojecten .

Kool Analyse & Advies geeft in het project ‘duurzaamheid op de kaart’, GroentenFruit Huis strategisch advies over de opzet van haar duurzaamheidsbeleid. Speerpunten zijn een transitie naar een pro-actieve positionering van de Groenten en Fruit sector m.b.t. duurzaamheid, ondersteuning van de leden en communicatie van de duurzaamheidsprestaties van de sector. In het project is afstemming tussen relevante ketenpartijen opgestart, input voor communicatie verzameld, de rol gedefinieerd voor GroentenFruit Huis richting haar leden en tools verzameld waarmee leden van GroentenFruit Huis concreet aan de slag kunnen m.b.t. duurzaamheid. In juli 2017 is het eindresultaat opgeleverd waarmee GroentenFruit Huis verder kan werken aan haar duurzaamheidsbeleid.
