Anton Nakov is a Principal Economist at the European Central Bank and specializes in central banking and monetary policy. Prior to the ECB, Anton worked as an economist at the Bank of Spain, as well as at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. He completed his PhD in Economics at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) in 2007.Nakov's research spans a range of topics within macroeconomics and monetary policy. His works include studies on retail pricing, the effects of monetary policy, and the dynamics of the oil market. For instance, in one of his papers he proposes a novel approach to understanding how firms reset prices and the subsequent implications for inflation and monetary policy. In other work, Anton studies the global oil market, particularly focusing on Saudi Arabia's role as a leading producer. Anton's contributions extend to understanding inflation dynamics under state-dependent pricing, and the design of monetary policies suitable for different economic environments. His work is characterized by an emphasis on applying advanced economic models to practical issues, especially those concerning economic policy and its impact on the broader economy.Nakov is a Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research, and his work has been published and cited in leading professional journals.
