    Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, I managed Chubb’s 13-member Risk Modeling Unit, which was responsible for the design, build, calibration, and application of Chubb’s group-wide economic capital model and other related risk models. Our work was used to set product-level profitability targets as well as to satisfy regulatory requirements for Chubb Limited and several international subsidiaries. Some specific accomplishments during my time at Chubb include:• Built the first-generation version of the group capital model, then oversaw the design and coding of the more comprehensive second-generation model.• Devised and deployed a framework for the risk-adjusted performance measurement of Chubb’s individual insurance products, combining economic valuation principles with model-allocated risk capital.• Established a mathematical model of the relationship between premium volume and loss ratio variance / covariance. Based on this model, oversaw the calibration of an algorithm to express correlation levels between product portfolios using the statutory financial returns of hundreds of U.S. property-casualty insurance companies.• In order to accurately model the impact of non-proportional reinsurance programs, developed an approach for defining piecewise Pareto distributions for large insurance losses, then designed a parameterization tool to support its application.• Established a method to stochastically allocate modeled loss outcomes for a given product portfolio, regardless of the distributional form, to homogenous subportfolios of varying sizes.
