My main responsibility is to manage all aspects of production on my shift. I am a key holder and incident commander for the factory. I have undertaken Lean training and have a basic knowledge of 5S. I attend meetings and communicate with staff at all levels to make certain the factory is run at its optimum level. I ensure financial targets are adhered too and budgeted for. I ensure that myself and all staff comply with company policies and procedures. I am proactive in my role, I forsee interruptions and offer a solution proactively by making recommendations for improving efficiency and reducing downtime. Thus ensuring production is operating at its full potential. I make efficient decisions regarding machinery issues. I work together with my company to make sure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed by directing my staff to work using safe methods, ensuring complience with company policy. I aid motivation within my team by setting priorites, planning and co-ordinating the team to achieve targets set by the company resulting in successfully managing, supervising and evaluating the performance of the staff as required to meet production and workload targets. If required I arrange meetings with individuals or teams to discuss general production or individual grievances and follow this up by communicaton where appropriate with the shop floor workers, admin and management team to ensure problems are resolved. I am responsible for ensuring that the training needs of new and existing staff are identified and met. I will also provide on the job training to ensure there are no skill shortages to maintain safe working conditions, flexibility of staff and to enable enough cover on the shop floor. I personally, provide cover on the shop floor where necessary. I ensure accurate completion of production sheets which includes timely submission. I guarantee that quality standards are followed and observe and investigate any rejects as required.

As manager I am responsible for the overall running of the department, which includes driving sales through merchandising of products or up selling, ordering stock, wage management, stock checks, waste management, training and coaching of staff and ensuring legal requirements are adhered to. I’m fully accountable for increasing my sales, ensuring efficiency on the department and maintaining the highest retail standards. I lead by example and offer coaching to any staff that are underperforming in order to improve their skills and confidence. I am also involved in setting priorities for the department and dealing with urgent tasks quickly and efficiently. I make an agenda and strive to plan ahead in order to be proactive rather than reactive. I work to create a constructive, fun and challenging environment for my staff in order to promote enthusiasm for the role and to try to combat some of the more repetitive jobs. After assessing the company’s resources, capital and people, I define clear objectives and KPIs for my staff which meets the needs of the business by strategically planning and setting achievable and realistic goals. When necessary I reward and discipline the performance of employees.
