During my time at ASDA I had a number of tasks and responsibilities to complete. Regular tasks included general shop keeping, replenishing stock and dealing with customer queries and complaints and communicating with colleagues. Dealing with colleagues and customers on a regular basis has helped to develop my interpersonal skills, meaning I am now confident in effectively communicating ideas and opinions to peers and dealing with customers in a professional and efficient manner. During my employment at ASDA I also became competent in stock and perpetual inventory control. Section Leader: During my placement year at university, I attained the position of Grocery and Process Department Section Leader for a year. As well as drawing upon the skills I had already gained as a Sales Assistant, I also acquired a new skills set. In the Grocery department I was responsible for coordinating a team of around 15 to 20 colleagues, to ensure all areas of the shop floor were manned, all daily shop keeping tasks were completed and the department was maintained to a high standard. In the Process Department I was responsible for a team of ten people, to make sure the perpetual inventory of stock was conducted correctly, promotional items were properly advertised and all stock reports were correct and complete. In both departments I was able to manage teams of people, coordinate group tasks and ensure the department was maintained to a high standard.
