Wouldn’t it be cool to have a genie that could do all your chores, homework and even grab you a beer from the fridge?I’ve always been fascinated with the potential of Robotics and Autonomous Control Systems. Since 4th grade, I’ve notoriously taken apart every device in my house that contained a PCB, just to satisfy my curiosity on how different electronic devices work. Over time, my curiosity impelled me to work on a spectrum of engineering projects, and eventually obtain my Bachelors in Mechatronics Engineering (University Rank 4 - First Class with Distinction). I’m currently pursuing my Masters in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Robotics at North Carolina State University while working on projects in the domains of Autonomous Systems, Computer Vision, and Drone Technology.During my sophomore year, I experimented on developing a Low-Cost, 3-D Printed, Humanoid Robotic Arm with potential industrial and prosthetic applications. My learnings were documented and published in the International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET), bolstering my research technique and etiquette knowledge. For my Bachelor's thesis, I led a team of three members to design and program an autonomous quadcopter capable of image recognition, using machine learning. The project was inspired by the devastating floods in Chennai, India, and the imperative to develop a drone capable of detecting survivors stranded in flooded areas and trapped in the rubble. The project helped me strengthen my interpersonal skills, awarded me the “Best All-Rounded Student” Award, and reinforced the idea of pursuing a career in robotics and autonomous systems.Being an integral part of a team at Apple as a Product Design Engineer – contributing my research and engineering skills towards the development of new consumer products, I was tasked with analyzing population datasets, fabricating electro-mechanical prototypes for different product iterations and presenting my work to executives to drive product decision making. During my time at Apple, I acquired a plethora of knowledge regarding consumer product design and development, and being a key player within cross-functional teams. My objective right now is to be a part of a team in an organization, where I can contribute my technical and professional skills to the development of the company’s product.
