Antoon ten Kate is Lead Scientist at Research, Development & Innovation-Process Technology department of Nouryon, the former Specialty Chemicals Division of AkzoNobel. He received his MSc in chemical engineering from the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, and he holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the same university on the topic of process development of hydrodechlorination as an alternative for chlorinated waste destruction. Since 1993, ten Kate has been employed by Nouryon and its predecessors (Akzo(Nobel)) in various positions in process development for global R&D. He has been based in the Netherlands and the U.S. Ten Kate’s industrial experience spans all scales of research and development in the fine-chemical and specialties sector. He is currently responsible for the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and the scientific rigour of the process development group. Antoon is a specialist in conceptual process design and applied thermodynamics, including process simulation and thermochemical / physical property analysis for process and product design. Antoon holds over 40 patents (applications) in the area of process technology. He is a member of the Royal Dutch Chemical Society (KNCV), a member of the Board of Trustees of European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), the chairman of the advisory board of KT-Consortium at DTU, Lyngby/Copenhagen DK
