You learn a lot by looking around and listening. I realized that in high school, spending time with my dad and two of his friends. His friends were lawyers. I was impressed by the way they talked; the stories they told and the colorful ways in which they told them. There were two take-aways from those times:☑️ I became a lawyer☑️ Paying attention pays offDetail and attentiveness are my specialties. Small things lead to big problems if overlooked. The same with clients. I don’t overlook them either. Approachable and a man of few words, I’m the one in the background going through documents with a fine-toothed comb. Trust and verify, the saying goes. Few documents linked to my projects leave our building without passing my watchful eye. It’s not control; it’s quality assurance. That’s been my way since I started in the legal field way back in the beginning of the 90s. First I worked in a bank and then at a law firm. In 2003, three colleagues and I started LEXTAL (previous name of WIDEN) with the aim of providing thorough efficiency. I no longer litigate. Now I advise clients, influencing their strategic decisions, be it corporate law, tax law, or M&A deals. The more difficult the matter, the more satisfying when the deal is done. Few feelings are better than gaining a favourable outcome for our clients. An avid golfer and a recreational cyclist; both are hands-on sports where I hold accountability for the outcome. It mirrors the way I conduct myself as an attorney. Precise and responsive; I don’t like to make mistakes, and I don’t like things to pile up or to keep clients waiting.
