Personnel Security Specialist
CurrentAs a Personnel Security Specialist my duties included but are not limited to: Supporting a comprehensive Personnel Security program in order to effectively manage the program (both internally and externally) as it interfaces with other government activities, agencies, and Department of Defense contractors. Utilizing technical knowledge to effectively audit internal security functions to identify possible vulnerabilities/deficiencies and recommend corrective actions and/or risk mitigation strategies; Understanding the objectives and plans of multiple security programs to make recommendations, and accommodate differing program requirements.Assisting the PERSEC Branch Head with the maintenance of a Security Education Training Awareness program; Assisting management in administering a Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP); review and evaluate PERSEC-related information derived from the CEP for assigned personnel; Making recommendations relative to suitability and clearance eligibility for employees and prospective employees prior to assignment to positions requiring classified access or sensitive duties.Assisting with the development standard operating procedures for the operation and protection of information, personnel, and assets; Developing written policies and procedures to cover multiple security objectives to meet mission requirements; Creating written assessments from evaluation of vulnerability studies and checklists to recommend corrective actions.Advising decision makers on Personnel Security program related issues that impact personnel decisions within an organization; Communicating with customers to explain and advise on security requirements pertaining to personal security actions, background and clearance eligibility requirements, in/out processing, access to classified information, and other related security topics.
