Also, surveying members of Congress to understand their stance, and update their voting record on AAUW’s Action Fund Congressional Voting Record, to hold senators and representatives accountable for their positions on AAUW’s priority issues.

Organize and execute 4-6 events a year related to International Development/Affairs and educate members on current/global issues pertaining to women to spread awareness and provide opportunities for networking. Manage social networks to enhance visibility and market events to increase attendance and membership. Hosted an informal viewing of the third presidential debate on foreign policy in collaboration with United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), and Women in International Security (WIIS) - with over a 100 people in attendance. Showcased a salon-version of Half the Sky event including searching for speakers for panel discussion from academics, researchers in the field at the Democratic National Club, and had over 120 intergenerational people attended to move our thinking forward and how each of us can contribute to make a difference. Recently, hosted a panel discussion (with speakers from leading development organizations) on how women in the global south are using mobile technology to become empowered.

Identified literature for an annotated bibliography to outline the challenges and understand the debates around evaluation methods currently proposed for women’s empowerment for busy Oxfam M&E colleagues in the field. Wrote a feminist evaluation proposal in collaboration with another intern to analyze the different ways to measure the various "forms" and "types" of power and how it impacts international programs on women’s empowerment and gender equity.

Worked on writing grant proposal for young women’s empowerment through new media in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region. Participated in a meeting with a donor to review our grant proposal. Canvased local businesses to raise funds for the Law & Leadership Program Annual Conference. Assisted with planning of KARAMAH’s Law & Leadership program and actively participated in the conference.

At aids2031 I helped plan all aspects of the Social Capital conference such as selection of academics and professionals, sending invitation letters, preparing agenda and conference folder, assisting with visas, booking flights, researching places to stay in Salzburg, Austria and arranging transportation for participants. Afterwards helping process reimbursements and reporting key ideas from the conference. Also, I organized and promoted events in recognition of World AIDS Day such as leading a Conversation Cafe and inviting professors and scholars to speak on panels.

Kept track of and organized employee schedules for 1,000 temporary employees nationwide. Posted job postings on numerous college/employment websites and managed response. Recruited candidates such as trade show models, sous chefs and chefs for trade shows around the country, along with recruiting in-store promotion demonstrators for in store promotional events and professional wait staff and bartenders for private home events. Made preliminary hiring decisions by conducting phone interviews. Wrote product literature and trained staff for demonstrations on their specific products.

Assisted WREI’s president in organizing and running annual Congressional Fellowship orientation. Researched and prepared materials for distribution during meetings. Attended lectures by Congressional staff, women’s advocates, non-profit leaders and feminist scholars.

Coordinated The Mid Atlantic Women’s Studies Association Conference and the Honors Beacon Conference: arranged academic speakers and presenters, secured rooms and equipment, managed all logistics and solicited donations.
