• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses care for newborn babies who are delivered pre term or at term newborns who experience complications at the time of birth, or born with congenital deformities and life threatening illness.• Trained to provide basic as well as advanced infant care such as monitoring vital signs, changing diaper to management of ventilators and Resuscitation.• Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.• Provides nutritional assessment and specialized feedings• Changes dressings.• Inserts IV catheters, extract blood and starts IVFs.• Monitor and adjusts specialized equipment used on patient, such as incubator and ventilators.• Prepares and administers and record prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatment.• Monitor vital signs and initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology communicate patient’s condition to care team.• Assist treating physician during examination, treatment and procedures including lifesaving situations including Intubation, Resuscitation, Lumbar Puncture, partial and complete exchange transfusion, ICD insertion.• Instructs and educates patient’s family.• Participates in discharge planning.• Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely in a timely manner in the appropriate format and forms.• Manage different type of machines in NICU including ventilators
