• Designed and synthesized novel, commercially successful photochromic (PC) dyes for Transitions® ophthalmic lenses, and other non-ophthalmic applications. These innovative & new to the world PC products have grown the overall PC lens category (share gain along with base retention), and currently have > $800 million in annual sales. • Hiring & supervising manager for Ph.D. & B.S. chemists; responsible for performance & learning (P&L) objectives. • Developed fundamental understanding of structure-property relationships to use for PC dye commercialization. • Liaised with attorneys in development of Intellectual Property, conducted due diligence on competitor technology. • Successfully transferred PC dye synthesis technology from lab (gram) to production (kg) for commercial scale-up of selected PCs for launch of Transitions transbondedTM and imbibed Generation 8, & fashion color products.

• PC synthesis coordinator for Transitions new product development – primary contributor to the Signature 7 transbondedTM and imbibed products that utilize Chromea 7 technology developed in my labs. • Assisted Sales & Marketing team in educating PC technology: presented seminars on next generation products.• Developed first Transitions PC transbondedTM bifocal lens to complete the product portfolio fulfilling an unmet market need; finalist project for 2013 PPG INNOVA – awarded every 2 years to the Top 3 global R&D projects.• Led & facilitated numerous ideation meetings for cross functional teams to develop new product concepts.

• Leading contributor to XTRActive (1st commercial PC lens that works inside a car) and Transitions Gen 6 products. • Supervised & mentored Ph.D. direct report from probation to performance improvement resulting in promotion. • Member of finalist team for 2009 PPG INNOVA award - title of project "Transitions Generation 6 Product". • Collaborated with scientists in various R&D teams to develop new polymer coatings and testing procedures.

• Explored high performing PCs for commercialization – key contributor to Transitions Gen 5 products. • Member of the Optical Products Culture Redesign team – promoted teamwork and inclusive work environment. • Promoted Transitions PC technology by teaching the COPE class to ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians. • Organized American Chemical Society’s Synthetic Organic Chemistry class in-house for entire research center.

• Created unique solutions for the temperature dependency and fatigue problems to achieve superior PC products. • Instructor for Transitions academy PC technology workshops (>500 participants) for a global audience. • Prepared research summaries and presented research strategy / results to customers, colleagues, and consultants. • Safety warden responsible for the safety of scientists in my wing; undertook annual training in first aid and CPR.

• Proprietary research sponsored by FMC-Lithium Division to prepare specialty pharmaceutical & organometallic intermediates. • Managed the research work of graduate as well as undergraduate students in our labs. • Explored applications of organometallic compounds in the novel synthesis of tricyclic pharmaceuticals. • Taught undergraduate classes and laboratories in Organic and General Chemistry.
