Coordinator, National Campaign For Prevention Of Violence Against Women
I coordinated an all-India campaign on 'Prevention of Sexual Violence Against Women' started by a feminist group in New Delhi. My job entailed networking and organising meetings with women activists, journalists and lawyers from all over the country; working with lawyers on recommendations for changes in the Indian Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code in sections dealing with sexual violence and submitting them to the Law Commission; intervening in sexual harassment cases; negotiating with the National Commission for Women; organising a public meeting on the issue of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace/Educational Institutions; giving interviews to the media.

I worked with the group for drawing and filing a public interest litigation in the Delhi High Court challenging the constitutional validity of the sodomy law, Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code and asking for the distribution of condoms to prisoners. I represented the group in a pornography case involving ABVA's report 'Less than Gay: the status of homosexuality in India' and the Sunday magazine at the Press Council of India.
