As an engineering manager for cloud common services, I am responsible to oversee design, development and operational support for authentication and authorization platform as well as developer experience(DevEx) for microservice development.Apart from usual people management duties, my work involves interaction with product development and technical product managers to over see sprint planning, execution and delivery. I play active role in prioritization of work based on inputs and demands from product managers, engineers & at times customers. One of the teams I manage is responsible for authentication and authorization platform for Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP). This product is an API layer on top of Okta to ensure all products across GWCP can participate in their customer’s SSO experience. The SSO design is based on hub-spoke model where in all the GWCP applications interact with hub authorization server which in turn federate with customer IdP spokes.The other team I recently started managing is responsible for providing more fine grained authorization which is a policy based access control (PBAC) product using Open Policy Agent (OPA) to come up with rego based policies.Developer Experience(DevEx) is the 3rd team I manage which provides tooling for microservice development. With this product our engineers can create a microservice and deploy it in Kubernetes in less than 30 minutes. Our intention is to let engineers focus on business logic leaving mundane wiring on us.Reporting to the Vice President of Cloud Common Services I ensure my team's goals are in alignment with our corporate goals.

I have led multiple teams including our authentication & authorization platform team, Developer Experience (DevEx) team and AWS/Kubernetes based platform team.The Authentication/Authorization platform is an API layer on top of Okta which is responsible for setting up the SSO experience for GWCP products. There are a variety of products which require SSO experience including cloud native microservices, digital portals, web applications and single page applications. Each of them had their own requirements and of course need to interact with each other. To meet their requirements, the SSO design is based on hub-spoke model where in all the GWCP applications interact with hub authorization server which in turn federates with customer IdP spokes. We followed Behavior driven development(BDD) practices using Karate to write acceptance tests and test driven development by writing integration tests, unit tests before implementing feature in our product. We also did pair programming to ensure everyone had shared context.Primary Technologies - Okta Authorization server, OAuth2/OIDC/SAML, Spring boot, Java, Karate, Teamcity, Kuberenetes (deployment, pod, service, ingress)DevEx team created a CLI based utility which was based on JHipster microservice blueprint and some home grown custom modules to generate Spring boot based microservice, entities, auth and a CI/CD pipeline. Auth and CI/CD were custom JHipster modules and we customized microservice blueprint for spring boot code generation to fit our needs.Primary Technologies - JHipster, Spring boot, Teamcity, Node.js, GoLang AWS/K8s based platform is a home grown PaaS product written in terraform for provisioning AWS EKS based Kubernetes cluster. As a member of technical architecture group for FUSIONAPPS I am involved in various initiatives requiring expertise in various fusion middleware techstack components including but not limited to SOA, BPM, ADFBc etc.- Problem Analysis, Requirements gathering, architecture, POCs and rollout of fault handling in Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle SOA BPM for Oracle SaaS (Fusion Applications)- Problem analysis, architecture, POCs and rollout for Oracle SaaS’s(Fusion applications) ability to withstand ZDT(Zero downtime) patching of database binaries- HA (High availability) resilience architecture, testing guidelines & best practices for implementation of Oracle ESS (Enterprise Scheduler) batch jobs- Best practices, guidelines for BPEL implementations across Oracle SaaS- Web services (SOAP & REST) development (ADFBc, JAX-RS)- Development in java for code analyzers/visitors/patch listeners to establish best practices for Fusion Applications Development (Extensive XML parsing including DOM, SAX, STAX parsing)- Development of number of adhoc java based tools- Excellent hands on experience with Java, Oracle SOA Suite, BPM, Mediator and other Oracle Fusion Middleware technologies- Knowledge of Apache Kafka, Zookeeper, Microservices architecture- Core requirement for this job was to understand implementation of Oracle SaaS, propose an architecture that would work across all product families (HCM, SCM, CRM, FIN etc), develop POCs with uptake guidance, identify & request enhancements required from PaaS/Middleware product suite and do a roll out of architecture across Oracle SaaS(5k+ developers)
