Anup Basu is a professor of finance at the Centre of Behavioural Economics, Society, and Technology (BEST) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane and a visiting faculty fellow at MIT Sloan School of Management. He is also a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA). Anup is an internationally renowned expert in the field of pensions, investments, and behavioural finance. Anup has been a consultant and trainer to government, regulators, investment companies and has worked on various research/ corporate education projects with organisations like Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), QSuper (one of Australia's largest superannuation funds), QIC (investment manager with $70 Billion AUM), and FINSIA, the peak industry body for finance professionals in Australia. His research has received grant funding from several public and private bodies including the Australian Research Council, Dementia Australia, Government of India's Department of Science and Technology, Ecstra Foundation, Chicago Board of Options Exchange (Cboe) and SpiderRock Advisors.Anup's research has been cited in the United States Senate Hearing, informed regulations devised by Securities Exchange Commission, and acknowledged by the United States Government Accountability Office, Cooper Review of the Superannuation System in Australia, World Bank, IMF, OECD, Investment Management Association (UK), and many others. He has developed dynamic lifecycle strategies for retirement (superannuation) plan members that can significantly increase their wealth accumulation.Anup is the founder of QUT Student Managed Investment Fund where final year undergraduate students manage an equity portfolio which has consistently outperformed the the benchmark ASX200 by double digits since inception. The outstanding learning outcomes for students has resulted in Anup receiving a citation at the Australian Awards for University Teaching in 2024.
