Dr. Jayasinghe is a Geotechnical Engineer with many years of experience in geotechnical engineering design, teaching and research. She has been involved in the design of a variety of infrastructure, municipal, landfill and remediation, mining, liquid natural gas and pipeline projects. Her engineering experience includes geotechnical subsurface characterization, design of shallow and deep foundations, geotechnical design of excavations and slopes, seismic induced displacement analysis, and design of ground improvement methods. Her doctoral research focused on the study of engineering behaviour of hydrate and gas charged marine/arctic sediments generating knowledge of fundamental strength and deformation characteristics of these sediments undergoing hydrate decomposition. During her early involvements in geotechnical engineering research she worked on understanding the correlation between soil moisture content and matric suction and studied natural sediments from a number of sites in Sri Lankan highlands. The research focused on the assessment of potential risk of seasonal rain induced slope instability in the central highlands of the Island.
