The Alberti Program: Architecture for Young People is a program for St. Louis area children ages 8-15, founded in 2007 by then dean Bruce Lindsey and senior lecturer Gay Lorberbaum. As the Assistant Director, I directed a community engaged course with enrolled graduate and undergraduate students teaching 2D and 3D architectural design to St Louis area 3rd-8th graders. I hired and supervised student workers, designed curriculum, and managed relationships with parents, school partners and donor stakeholders.

Co-taught cohort of 26 urban design graduate students in studio and seminars, providing feedback through grading, desk critiques, and leading reading and small group discussions and design-focused workshops. Worked directly with faculty on logistics, teaching goals, and evaluation.

I assisted with the Old Town North Small Area Plan, a community planning process for the area just north of historic Old Town Alexandria. I completed National Charrette Institute training, met with city government agencies and stakeholders to capture their input for the planning process, and used GIS and Illustrator to produce maps of existing conditions, as well as diagrams and work plans for project development. Additionally, I completed research and assisted at community meetings for the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan, a mixed industrial/residential area.

Key technical assistance provider for federally sponsored initiatives to connect new populations (domestic violence survivors and non-custodial parents) to asset-building opportunities. I provided data collection training, organized meeting logistics, analyzed and presented outcome data through webinars and in-person meetings, and contributed to content development for toolkits, fact sheets and final reports to facilitate collaboration between new partners collaborating on asset-building.
