I am a PhD candidate at Arizona State University, School of Earth Space Exploration. My primary research focus is on understanding surface processes on Mars using remote sensing, laboratory analysis, and analog studies. I also do research in the field of cosmochemistry, focusing on characterizing the microstructure and mineralogy of stardust grains using electron microscopy. Upon completion of my Ph.D., I plan to continue to work as an educator and researcher; ideally in an academic institution as a professor. In addition to the sciences, I have completed rigorous coursework in the social sciences for my second major in anthropology at St. Lawrence University. Delving into the distinctive yet interconnected disciplines as an undergraduate has significantly influenced the way I view the world. The natural sciences satisfy my desire to explain the inner-workings of the world, while anthropology helps me take a step back and evaluate our intricate relationship with the world as its inhabitants. I believe that this perspective has helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Mcnair ScholarRonald E. Mcnair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program Jun 2020 - PresentCanton, New York, United StatesIn Summer 2020, I completed my internship under the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program (commonly known as the McNair Scholars Program). My research topic was “Clay Minerals in Landslides on Earth and Mars: Towards Understanding Martian Climate”. This was part of a PhD project called “Compositional and Thermophysical Controls on Martian Mass Movements” by Helen Eifert, who is doing PhD in Planetary Science at North Arizona University (it is also a NASA FINESST project). My faculty mentor was Dr. Alexander K. Stewart, the chair of the Geology department at St. Lawrence University. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the research couldn’t be done in its full length and will be carried on to my senior year experience. During the summer, I learned the basics of ArcGIS and wrote a grant proposal for the research. The research involves looking at earth-based analogs of clay-induced mass movements in order to better understand the clay-rich Martian landslides. I collected a number of terrestrial case studies through literature review and got introduced to CRISM, OMEGA, and JMARS for the first time. My future experience doing this research will hopefully involve traveling to sites in Nevada and Montana to collect some samples for the earth-based analogs. -
