The Tide Turners Plastic Challenge is the world's largest youth-led movement, with participants pledging to take action to reduce plastic waste in their personal lives and communities. In collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the challenge in India.The Challenge is intended to inspire young people to think about their plastic consumption, find solutions to reduce it and lead change in their communities. Goals of the Challenge - • Learn about single-use plastics (SUPs) and alternatives: Learn about the negative effects of plastic pollution on nature and humanity, and feel inspired to change one’s plastic-use habits. • Sharpening Leadership Skills: Plastic pollution is a human-made problem that we must all work to solve. This is an opportunity to be a community champion and change agent.• Receive Recognition: A Champion's certificate is awarded on successfully completing all three levels of the challenge. Innovative initiatives will have the opportunity to be showcased at a national summit held as a culmination ceremony for the Tide Turner Plastic Challenge.The challenge activities guide participants through three levels of learning: entry, leader, and champion.• Level 1: Increase your understanding of single-use plastics. Consider your own consumption and what simple actions you can take to eliminate single-use plastic from your daily life. • Level 2: Raise awareness and sensitize the community. Reach out to one's community to raise awareness about the issue of single-use plastics (SUP) and to learn about the SUP ban's implementation.• Level 3: Act and lead the change. I come to you with a story that has touched my heart deeply, and I believe in the power of our collective compassion to make a difference. As reported by Divya Himachal Newspaper on October 16th, 2023, tragedy struck the lives of Naresh Kumar and his wife, Leela Devi, in the quiet village of Chamyar in the Gram Panchayat Bagh of Sarkaghat sub-division of Himachal Pradesh. A kitchen fire, ignited by a malfunctioning cylinder, engulfed their home, leaving Leela Devi with severe burns on her legs, arms, mouth, and stomach. This horrifying incident not only took away their humble abode but also left them with a loss of about INR 8,00,000 (USD 9,600), with essential belongings reduced to ashes. Raising USD 600 (INR 50,000), I started a campaign to provide nutritious meals for free to the most in need through a drive in collaboration with local partners.A community kitchen was used to prepare filling meals after gathering groceries and other necessities. A book can change one’s life. India has one of the world's largest educational systems with 250 million students attending school daily and the majority moving on to higher levels, leaving behind a wealth of memories and out-of-date textbooks in its wake. These vast quantities of books, which are invaluable to those who need them, are either stacked, thrown away, or sold.A sizable proportion of children in our nation who want to learn still aren't able to do so because of poverty. Their inability to purchase books dashes their hopes and aspirations, preventing them from thriving and moving forward.As part of the outbound learning program organized by Shiv Nadar School in Kanechi in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, a book donation drive was conducted for local schools to help close the gap. The idea was to get students to give their used textbooks as donations.I had the good fortune to be a part of the book donation drive, which involved close interaction with students of local schools.I've come to realize thanks to the drive that by donating books, you give others the opportunity to find that ONE book that might just change their life. The books on our shelves that have been gathering dust for years may be a treasure for someone else.I look forward to more such drives, and to scaling them up to help achieve Sustainable Development Goals SDG1 and SDG4.

Delegate of Denmark at the UNHCR Committee on Displacement due to Climate Change, Model United Nations Conference, 2022, organized jointly by Shiv Nadar School - Alma College Michigan, USA.Model United Nations (MUN) is a classroom simulation of the United Nations in which students take on the roles of national delegates from across the globe to resolve current global issues using the policies and viewpoints of the nations they represent. Shiv Nadar School held its MUN program in two phases. Five Alma College Michigan interns trained us on the MUN format during the first stage from July 18-30. In the past twenty years, Alma College has had the unusual honor of winning 42 Outstanding Delegation Awards at the National Model United Nations Conference in New York.I became familiar with common terminologies and processes of MUN, committees, agendas, delegates, rules of procedure, country research, and position papers at the two-week training.The second phase of the program was a two-day MUN Conference on August 3 and 4, where I represented the Kingdom of Denmark and its position on the agenda of "Displacement due to Climate Change" at the Committee on the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR ).I carried out country research on Denmark for the Conference, created a position paper outlining Denmark's official position on the agenda, and delivered it at the Conference of UNHCR.

Despite my young age, my lack of entrepreneurial experience only fueled my determination. I knew I had much to learn and unlearn as a first-generation entrepreneur, but my passion remained unwavering.My journey truly began with a virtual Agri-conclave organized by the Indian government, shedding light on the significance of millets in safeguarding the global economy from climate-related risks. As I delved deeper into research, I discovered India's resolute efforts in promoting millet cultivation, coinciding with the United Nations' declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets.With unwavering determination and the support of my family, I decided to create a millet-based business that harmoniously combines convenience and health. I am humbled and honored to have been recognized by The Earth Saviours Foundation for exceptional volunteering service to the welfare of abandoned senior citizens and people with disabilities living in shelter homes.Since its inception in 2008, the foundation has served the underprivileged, providing shelter homes for the socially, mentally, emotionally, and physically disadvantaged.Over the course of its existence, the foundation has rescued over 15,000 abandoned senior citizens, homeless people with disabilities, and disadvantaged and vulnerable women.I had the privilege of volunteering at the foundation's Bandhwari village center, which is located on the outskirts of Gurgaon, India, and houses an old age home, a medical center, a home for disadvantaged women, and a center for people with disabilities.The foundation serves a large number of senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and bedridden individuals age 18 to 70 years.I encourage everyone to check out https://lnkd.in/diMn4Stc and help the foundation achieve its goal in any way it can.
