Joined Rajshahi University Psychology Department as Lecturer in 1981. Then served as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and now working as Professor. His major works are in the field of mental retardation. He was the first Director of the ‘Bangladesh National Institute for the Mentally Retarded’. He has successfully supervised 12 Ph.D., 5 M.Phil., and 4 Masters research works in different Universities of the country.Dr Sufi is now a Graduate Member and Chartered Psychologist of The British Psychological Society, Vice President of The SIVUS International for the Mentally Retarded, Founder Member of ‘Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Behavioural Sciences’, Founder President of ‘Rajshahi University Psychology Alumni Society’, member of many other academic societies of the country.He is the author of many books on Psychology written in English and Bengali. The Psychology text book for the undergraduate students is approved by The National Curriculum and Text Book Board of Bangladesh. His papers were published in many journals in Bangladesh and abroad.He has presented papers and chaired sessions in different international conferences in USA, UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, Portugal, UAE, Nepal, India, Thailand, The Philippines, China and Japan.Specialties: Special education, avaiation psychology
