Lumos has been a great opportunity to shine a light on the world of real estate investing. I work with a small team to analyze properties in order to estimate their return on investment. I use this information, coupled with ethical considerations, to advise investors in making data-driven decisions about their real estate investments. I transitioned from the Virginia Department of Health to the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) to continue my work with the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP). VMAP is dedicated to enhancing child and adolescent access to mental health services by equipping primary care providers with the necessary support. Through educational training and a consultation line, primary care providers receive guidance from mental health professionals, enabling them to better address their patients' mental health needs.This role aligned perfectly with my background, combining my master's education and experience in the mental health field with my doctoral-level expertise in research, assessment, and evaluation.In my role, I conducted and coordinated studies, evaluations, and research projects, prepared quality assurance checks, and created data dashboards for legislative and program decision-making. I designed data collection tools, maintained and monitored a multi-project database, and tracked program performance measures. I assisted with grant writing, supervised interns, and participated in health equity advisory committee meetings. Additionally, I led a program quality improvement and evaluation advisory committee, ensuring continuous quality improvement and effective program outcomes.

We recognized the importance of both qualitative and quantitative data in supporting students and the institution.My responsibilities included evaluating campus-wide programs and initiatives by developing research protocols and surveys, collecting and managing student data using Question Pro, REDCap, and SAS, and writing evaluation summaries of both quantitative and qualitative data. I created data dashboards with Tableau to present student record data, collaboratively designed a transfer student survey to measure student attitudes, and wrote SAS program code to answer specific research questions and data requests. Additionally, I developed and led an evaluation of the VCU Trio Program, which involved conducting qualitative interviews, theme-based coding, and quantitative pre-post analysis.

During my graduate studies, I was fortunate to secure a teaching assistantship in the business department, which significantly enhanced my understanding of business strategy, management, and industry analysis.In this role, I was part of a dynamic team that included a professor, graduate teaching assistants, and five to thirteen lab instructors. Together, we facilitated the growth of 200 to 800 students per semester, running the course like a business. The professor acted as the CEO, while I functioned as the COO, with students being considered as employees. This structure provided a unique and practical learning environment.
