Co-founded Regina’s first aerospace R&D group that won twice nationally in a three-year aerospace competition organized by the University of British Columbia to design and build a life-size Martian airlock. Currently leading the final phases of the design, testing and construction of the award-winning Martian airlock prototype. 1. Established high-level design parameters based on operating conditions in Mars and in Low Earth Orbit.2. Conducted detailed design analyses, both theoretical and CAD-based, for all mechanical elements of the airlock.3. Developed a comprehensive manufacturing methodology for all product subcomponents, including but not limited to, casting, CNC, lathe, 3D printing and polymer filament extrusion.4. Ensured that all components conformed to Design for Assembly [DFA], Design for Manufacturing [DFM] and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance [GD&T] specifications.5. Prepared detailed engineering drawings of components in advanced design stages for Celestial Laboratories’ academic, financial, and legal partners.

Led the R&D arm of Celestial Labs to develop two novel, patent-pending technologies for Martian habitation.Design and Research: Collapsible Pressurized Vessel 1. Developed preliminary design concepts for a solid, collapsible pressure vessel and conducted detailed feasibility analysis with a focus on cost, weight, performance specifications and operating conditions.2. Performed multidimensional engineering analyses to ensure device operability while exposed to vacuum, cryogenic temperatures, high doses of radiation, and dust storms.3. Created hundreds of design iterations using input from Finite Element Analysis [FEA] and static and kinematic analyses. 4. Conducted risk assessment of mechanical failure of design components and assemblies under operating conditions.Design and Research: Integrated Martian Ventilation System 1. Prepared conceptual designs for a novel type of compressor, based on airflow and heat transfer requirements, operating temperature ranges and ambient radiation exposure in Mars.2. Established a design plan, dividing the design into preliminary, advanced, and prototype stages with clearly defined benchmarks for each stage.3. Translated preliminary designs into advanced, test-ready components after hundreds of design iterations through multidisciplinary analysis involving Computational Fluid Dynamics [CFD], kinetic and kinematic analyses. 4. Developed a gearbox to aid compressor motion, with a geartrain containing innovative, patent-pending variations of Geneva and Planetary gear systems. Testing, Prototyping and Manufacturing1. Created and tested designs through thousands of SolidWorks files and its accessory features, including FEA Analysis and Motion Study.2. Worked extensively with 3D printers to create hundreds of scaled and full component parts for prototyping. 3. Explored and developed manufacturing methods for each component, considering fabrication time, cost, supplier availability and manufacturing method feasibility.
