Completed a 13 month industrial placement at Valero, Pembroke Refinery as an Environmental Process Engineering student. My role included monitoring and reporting all refinery emissions through the use of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) analysers. In addition, I was heavily involved with the Process Engineering team during the preparation and execution of the 12-week Turnaround, completing COSHH testing, vessel inspections, inspection reports and QA/QCs as well as working closely with the Industrial Hygienist team throughout. Finally, I collaborated with senior Process Safety Engineers, experts in Process Operations and Instruments to complete a Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) of the Refinery's Vis-breaker Unit (VBU).
