About Anzet Du Plessis

For 14 years, I have communicated complex information to African audiences to promote understanding that drives development. I develop training programmes, communication strategies, content and events that enable African experts to share technical knowledge with those who will benefit from it most. Read more below:I work in and for Africa, helping extraordinary people take their work further. Perceptions about Africa can make communication extra challenging for researchers and specialists. How information is perceived and with how much credibility is affected by race, gender, language and nationality, despite the wealth of knowledge held by African experts. I help researchers, engineers, scientists and other experts tell complex stories, change perceptions, get recognition for their work and drive development. As a former agency director turned consultant, I continue to support the region's innovators, experts and thought leaders in sharing insights and advancing important social and economic initiatives. Whether information needs to be shared with communities, government officials, media or industry, my interests lie in explaining complexity, and amplifying the voices of those making a positive impact.I've worked in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia; and remotely in Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, The Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique & the Republic of Congo. My experience spans various industries, including education, healthcare, gender-based violence, violence extremism, space science, agriculture, climate science, and more.I have produced and directed short films that help communities better understand local government structures, contributed to programmes designed to break cycles of violence, and facilitated access to information about the criminal justice system in over a dozen languages. I've supported high level policy development at national and continental level, on topics ranging from financial regulation to political party funding.I've travelled thousands of kilometres with solar-powered test cars, coaching the students on competing teams to navigate communication with their sponsors, universities, competitors and supporters.I have also been privileged to train more than 200 engineers, scientists, and researchers to communicate their innovations, technologies and research in an accessible way, ultimately transferring their knowledge to those who can use it to improve even more lives.
