I am currently a fine art graduate from the Limerick School of Art and Design. I have graduated with a first class honours degree in Photography Film and Video. I am interested in leading and managing creative organisations in visual arts. My life is dedicated to contemporary art and I need to know the workings of its business world.Although I am a practicing artist I currently find myself with the desire to learn more about the art business world and feel this is the right step forward for me. All my life I have worked in retail and consistently managed my own finances to fund my college tuition for the last four years. Currently I am working in a furniture store called Casey’s Furniture in Limerick city as a part-time sales assistant. This means I am constantly surrounded by beautiful contemporary furniture and artworks, be it ceramics, textiles or paintings to help promote the sales of the furniture in store. This has really influenced me as a visual person but also made me learn a lot about networking with people, getting them the right pieces for their home and making long-lasting connections. I have always been interested in systems and procedures that different companies have, be that working as a team, helping others and learning the strategies of how to find the best outcomes for myself as an artist or for commission for my personal sales. When it comes to the professional practice of being an artist I always need to find ways to promote myself and how to go about marketing in the fine art world. Organising exhibitions brings me a lot of joy and I like problem solving. During this pandemic I learned to adapt as an artist and face challenges. I have looked for virtual spaces so I could still show my work in a space and I solved problems on how to embed this space on my website so it was visual for curators and examination. The most important part of any exhibition for me, is the networking and meeting new people to make meaningful connections to help one another and collaborate.
