This is under a project called “Strengthening of Smallholder Farmers Resilience and Self-Help Capacities against the Effects of Climate Change in Mchinji District”, funded by German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope. Main tasks of the consultancy included:Main Task 1 - Situation and needs assessment/analysis of the six targeted Farmer’s Cooperatives.Main Task 2 - Development of Designs, Layouts and BoQs for the processing facilities.Main Task 3 - Provision of technical expertise in the procurement of all machinery, required materials for construction and follow up on installation works.Main Task 4 - Monitoring, supervising and ensuring quality of the construction and installation works by the contractors and community members.Main Task 5 - Installation of the processing machinery, PV Solar Power Supply and all its appliances.Main Task 6 - Test the functionality of the processing machinery and ensure that they are giving out products as required.Main Task 7 – Commissioning and Training

I was subcontracted as the Electrical Engineer during a project where we were upgrading the laboratory for Chikwawa District Hospital. This project was funded by GoM in collabolation with URC. Among other things, my responsibilities were but not limited to the following:Detail engineering with a safety factor in the designBasic & detailed engineering for the provision of earthling pits of electrical installation.Designing of illumination of different areas and lux calculations.Cable size calculation cable scheduling and its route selection, overhead or underground proper protection system for all electrical installation.Design for fire alarm & detection systemGenerally responsible for implementations and monitoring of all electrical-related works at the site.Estimation, preparation and assigning resources such as manpower, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, etc., required for all electrical and related works before execution.Planning and analysis of all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options to the Project Manager for approval before execution at site.Interpretion of construction drawings and the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications before executing any jobs.

Recruited to Head all Projects and Engineering in the country during the factory optimization project, lead a team of twelve engineers and manage a budget of over $20 million. Ensured that scopes of works were in conjunction with policies/procedures in line with the overall strategic plan. Recruited to head the Integrated Security Systems business at G4S Secure Solutions (Mw) Limited. Spearheaded change country-wide, establishing new strategic direction for the whole business line, leading financial turnaround for operations at near-zero profitability, and building strong leadership team. Oversee team of 6 Managers across all units/functions, including IT, R&D/engineering customer service, and business development.

Recruited, in 2011, to manage all operations functions within the $5 million unit; following successful performance and achievement of objectives, earned promotion in 2011 to a position of National Plant Engineer where among other things I was in charge of the capital projects and engineering functions for the whole company as well as a Custodian of a $ 8 million annual budget for CAPEX and plant replacements/maintenance.
