Prior to joining Arup, Alex worked as a senior investment analyst at Mercer, where he qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).Mercer is a global consulting firm providing a range of investment services to institutional clients. Alex’s responsibilities included the use of financial modelling tools to create and analyse investment strategy solutions, as well as project management of client relationship teams.His projects typically involved combining client-specific financial data with wider macroeconomic indicators to forecast future asset and liability flows. Sensitivity analysis and scenario testing were also performed, to assess portfolio resilience and present a range of investment alternatives for discussion with clients.Alex acted as a first point of contact for several large clients (>£1bn of assets) and managed analyst teams, ensuring that quarterly performance and risk monitoring reports were delivered to deadline. He prepared and presented bespoke research and advice on subjects from timberland investment to the effects of climate change on investment portfolios.
