Managing 2 UI Framework teams: Lighting Web Components (LWC) and Lightning Data Service (LDS)LWC - an Open Source UI Framework based on Web Component standards. LWC framework enables building user interface components using web components, modern JavaScript, and web standards. LWC leverages custom elements, templates, shadow DOM, modules, and other new language constructs available in ECMAScript 7 and beyond. LWC is the language for UI extensibility in Salesforce products. ​​LDS - is a high-performance declarative data service. It is an api client and a caching layer, which improves application performance and guarantees consistency. LDS provides LWC components with access to Salesforce’s APIs and handles >10 billion invocations per day.
