Being kind of shy growing up, sales was so not the career I would have envisioned for myself. Never thought that I'd work on more than 500 client accounts and write in sales revenue of 35+ crores in a year. But just as "Que Sera Sera" goes, my tryst with sales began 20 years ago with my first job at Star TV in a sales support role , filling in for a batch-mate who had internally moved to sales.Working closely with the front-line sales reps for a few months, I loved how much of an adrenaline packed life they led. That is when I decided that sales is what I want to build a career in ! Three years on, after moving into a front-line sales role and still going strong 17 years later, the journey has been ridden with challenges, achievements and a lot of learning.Leadership began at Turner with HBO and WB, where I led teams and overcame the biggest challenges of my journey yet - when colleagues became subordinates and revenues needed stabilization in a year that coincided with the recession of 2008. My team successfully delivered revenue growth, winning the Best Sales Team award for 2010. In highly competitive businesses like the media industry , getting clients to grow their revenue is always a challenge for sales teams. At Hindustan Times my team was successful in doing just that, winning 30% incremental revenues for one of the biggest 360 campaign executed for Lipton Green Tea across Print, Digital, Radio and On-Ground.If I were to pinpoint 2 things that I do really well, they would be building and communicating value to clients which is why I excel at new business development and, developing effective sales strategies which helped me successfully establish timesnownews.com in its first year of launch as a preferred publisher , winning key accounts and strategic agency partnerships to achieve 85% of the sales number and drive a 25% growth for Outlook Traveller's digital portfolio.If you wanted to know more about me professionally, there are probably 3 types of people who would have something to say1) My Clients - Have the comfort of knowing that they are in good hands and can be assured of achieving the desired impact on their marketing objectives.2) My Ex Bosses - They can count on me to get the job done with sincerity and integrity3) My teams and colleagues - I lead by example, do not micromanage and they can bank upon me as I will always have their back.I am always curious to learn more and waiting to share what I know, so hit me up if you feel the same !
