I am currently a medical billing/AR specialist and medical coder who recently got into this field. Before this career change, I worked for four years as a Barista in a Target owned Starbucks. Through my barista position I was able to gain an extensive amount of knowledge and skills, particularly regarding teamwork and customer service. When I decided to make my career change and started working as a medical biller these same skills really helped me out. With my extensive client relations skills I am able to discuss any claims issues and concerns with patients and insurance companies without hesitation. I am also able to discuss various billing and coding issues with my colleagues and come to a consensual agreement on what the resolution should be. Although these are entry level, they have been some of my most utilized skills. I am excited to continue using these skills in any future career I should choose to have.
