Reaearch Ocean pollution that is caused by plastics being discharged from land and marine sources.

I am the Environmental Coordinator and I am responsible for managing our chapter's environmental issues and report to the current chairperson and the EC about the status of current issues and present new issues as they arise. I am also the Co-Chair of the Teach and Test Program where we interact with high school students and instructors on real local environmental issues. We currently have 60 students from 5 high schools that take water samples and determine bacteria levels in their samples. We post our results on Surfrider's Blue Water Task Force web pages that are available for the public to review. We also collect, identify, sort and count plastic trash that has been deposited on the beach near storm drain outlets. We use this data to promote plastic bans by individual cities for single use plastic bags and expanded polystyrene food conveyance products.

I have surfed on every continent except Africa. I love surfing and will surf for life as long as the water is warmer than 65 degrees F and my body allows me to do it.

I was the division manager and had a staff of 107 people including supervisors for 8 groups.
