Adam planned and executed strategic fundraising campaigns to meet the Society's operations and programmatic needs. Over five years he researched and applied for grant opportunities from private foundations, government agencies, and corporations. He designed and executed member and donor appeals, developed programs for funding opportunities, responded to media inquiries, and managed information technology systems. Adam also oversaw and helped organize the Society's annual membership meetings, fundraising galas, and history conference.

At a time of stress for the organization, Adam managed a staff of seven employees, outside contractors and volunteers for the operation of the Society’s exhibitions, research library, and public programs. He also developed and executed fundraising efforts that helped maintain the organization's operations, rebuilt the Society's financial tracking software and controls, and represented the Society in both the print media and on television.

Adam began as a volunteer at the Historical Society in 2008 and was later contracted to update and correct the Society's Sage Fundraising database of over 20,000 constituents. He was then hired as membership coordinator to design, execute and track membership direct mail and online appeals.
