John Bursch defends religious liberty, free speech, and the right to life while also representing Fortune 500 companies, foreign and domestic governments, and top public officials in high-profile cases, primarily on appeal. John has argued 12 U.S. Supreme Court cases and three dozen state supreme court cases, successfully litigating hundreds of matters around the country, including six with more than $1 billion at stake. He recently authored Loving God's Children: The Church and Gender Ideology, available at https://sophiainstitute.com/product/loving-gods-children/A recent study found that over the 2012-2015 Terms, John was one of the most successful attorneys in the country at persuading the U.S. Supreme Court to grant petitions for certiorari. Another study concluded that among frequent U.S. Supreme Court advocates who were not part of the federal government, John was the 3rd-most successful at winning Justices' votes for his position. He has also compiled a Supreme Court merits record that the National Law Journal observed "even more veteran high court advocates would envy." John's cases have involved many of the most important public-policy issues of the past decade. John has been widely recognized for his advocacy. He is one of only 7 Michigan lawyers inducted into the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and one of only 62 Michigan attorneys serving as a Member of the American Law Institute. Best Lawyers recognizes John in the areas of Appellate Litigation, Commercial Litigation, and Bet-the-Company Litigation, and Michigan Super Lawyers recently featured John on its cover (see http://digital.superlawyers.com/superlawyers/mislrs17?pg=1#pg1).

AuthorLoving God'S Children: The Church And Gender Ideology Jun 2023 - PresentThe Catholic Church teaches beautiful lessons about human sexuality and our identity as sons and daughters of God, lessons that promote human flourishing. Yet gender activists and their allies in the government and in the media denounce the Church’s message of love as harmful and hateful. How do Catholics respond to that criticism? In this timely and incisive book, John Bursch helps explain what the Catholic Church teaches about the human person and why modern culture’s embrace of “gender ideology” is not only wrong but terribly dangerous for parents and families, female athletes, medical professionals — and especially those experiencing gender confusion. Drawing from Church documents and extensive scientific research, Bursch answers numerous questions that confront Catholics living in a culture that promotes gender fluidity. He covers a range of topics including how to approach the use of pronouns in the workplace, whether transgender individuals can receive the sacraments, and ways to accompany those struggling with gender confusion. You will also learn:What is the concept of objective truth and how to defend itThe Church’s understanding of what it means to truly love another individualStraightforward reasons to defend the Church’s teaching on human sexualityWhat scientific inquiry really says about gender ideologyThe true meaning of human identityHow gender activists subvert the truth in culture and in the medical professionHow acceptance and affirmation of those who announce a gender identity different from their sex is not loving but harmfulSignificantly, you will find ways to develop virtue and courage to withstand the rising persecution of those who promote and defend the Church’s teachings and will learn how to respond to practical questions with factual information and authentic spiritual guidance from the pope and Catholic bishops.Available at https://sophiainstitute.com/product/loving-gods-children/
