Currently I'm working on a few websites, starting them from scratch. I enjoy working on these projects as it's both a creative and science outlet, while still helping others find the information they are looking for. I almost always have a creative side-project going on, anywhere from crocheting to creating new food recipes to starting a new blog. One thing I love about creative projects like these is that they are like a puzzle, with so many different aspects to figure out. With crocheting, I decide the pattern, colors, and sometimes size of the project. When I’m creating new recipes, I try many ingredient alternatives to see which combination creates the perfect flavor and texture profile. Blogging allows me to write creatively, where I also get to look at the data and see what readers seem to love, and what they might not like as much. I have 2 Bachelors of Science degrees – one in food science, and the other in nutrition. The courses I took while working towards those degrees really allowed me to learn what to look for when analyzing data, and how to use that knowledge. I’ve taken that data mindset and use it for working on blogs. This includes researching the optimal keywords for Google and Pinterest SEO, and the ability to do A/B tests on various aspects to discover what people like most, taking that information and applying it!
