Educator/Scientist with colorful history always looking for an opportunity to grow. While I am happily teaching high school science, I am open to considering positions that combine my talents and allow me to use my life experiences in new ways.I currently teach Science courses in a small, progressive high school that uses a Student-centered, Standards-based approach to education. Topics include: Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Environmental Studies and Freshman Science (a survey course including basic Physics). I enjoy using a hybridized approach to instruction that is both technology-rich and personalized.I have spent close to 20 years in High School Science education. In that time, I have taught in 4 different high schools ranging from large inner-city, to urban, to suburban areas teaching most science subjects offered in this grade range. Two years ago, I received the University of Rochester's Sanger Award for Excellence in Teaching. I was nominated by a former student.Prior to becoming an educator, I was a successful Research Scientist, mostly in the areas of Cancer and Immunology. My expertise is in cellular biochemistry. In that span, collaborative efforts resulted in co-authorship on about 12 publications and 1 patent. I enjoy people, technology, science, education, environmental issues, organic gardening, managing our Tree Farm, construction science and playing in the outdoors.
