We worked together from 2005-2016. April was hired in 2005 to lead a Training function we were creating. While her experience at the time was minimally related, her energy, creativity, and her desire to develop others were evident during the interview, and she surpassed every expectation upon hire. She jumped into unknown territory , working unlimited hours and jumping many hurdles to create a Training platform for CIT. The expectations and enthusiasm from the client groups grew as they met April and witnessed that she cared about their business and could grasp its complexity quickly, and could be the mechanism to drive business effectiveness through training and leadership. An additional benefit for me personally was that I learned so much from April! April's steadfast determination and refusal to believe something could not be done made her a natural to move into additional roles in the company, serving as Business Development Project Manager, Manager of Servicing, Sr. Business Analyst and additional roles. While I hated to see her leave the HR Department, I reminded myself we were fortunate to have retained her, and I continued to work closely with her in all of her Operations roles. As her HR Business Partner for most of these roles, she impressed me by her leadership skills and her keen interest in the development of her associates, while also being the SME on every technical aspect of the job. She immediately became the go-to person for many, both because of her knowledge, but also because of her willingness to think outside of the box and support others. She is a strong communicator as well, both verbally and written. She is one of the most unselfish employees I have ever met. While I have missed working with April the last few years, it is with pride that I see how far she has progressed in her career, and the impact she has made on the company and also on the lives of those she has managed and/or worked beside.
