I am April Alvarez, a senior at Auburn University majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Spanish. As a first generation college student, being able to attend Auburn is a huge blessing. Since day one, it has been my goal to graduate within the 4 year period, and grow into my career through the connections I foster here. On campus, I am involved in various organizations which exemplify my values, such as Students for Clean Water, and the Office of Inclusion and Diversity. Involvement in these organizations has strengthened my ability to solve problems and communicate effectively while working within a team. I have also gained valuable leadership experience by assisting with the planning and presentation of Success Seminars. As a future Public Relations professional, I’m interested in a Communications or Marketing position. I would love the opportunity to work in the tourism sector of PR, whether it be with an airline, such as Delta, or a DMO. I believe I would be a useful addition to these companies because I would be able to apply my Spanish knowledge. I would also thrive in any sector of PR that is dedicated to bettering the lives of others, such as nonprofit work or healthcare. I know I would add value in these areas because nothing can stop my passion for serving others.
