Provided civil legal assistance and education to Alabama’s low income population by counseling clients facing foreclosure and/or an ejectment. In order to help clients avoid foreclosure I negotiated with lenders to modify the terms of the clients' mortgage and other loss mitigation options.

Counseled the President of the Public Service Commission, Lucy Baxley, on legal matters related to the regulation of Alabama investor-owned utilities and companies in transportation, gas pipelines, water and waste water. This often required addressing policy concerns of the Commission and analyzing agency projects, filings by utilities as well as state and federal legislation affecting Alabama utilities. My responsibilities also including reporting to the President of the APSC on budgetary matters, economic forecasts for the company and/or industry, compliance with current and future environmental regulations, and various accounting treatments. Lastly, I met with staff to discuss the financial implications of accounting treatments requested by utility, burdens/benefits for utility and rate payers regarding all filings, standard industry practices as well as future technology and environmental standards that can impact the utility and the rate payer.

Managed a caseload that focused on criminal and family law, probate matters, personal injury cases as well as conducted real estate closings for residential properties and small business matters. Before leaving the firm I had the opportunity to conduct my first jury trial where my client was charged with three felonies (two class A's and one class C). Jury returned a verdict of not guilty to one of the class A felonies.
