I have worked in the NHS since 2016, starting my career at 18, as a HCA at the University Hospital of North Durham’s Acute Medical Unit. In 2018 I began my Adult Nursing Degree at the University of Sunderland. In 2021 I achieved a BSc Adult Nursing 1st Class with honours and was awarded the “Highest Achieving Student Award” for my work. My dissertation was a systematic literature review titled “The Therapeutic Benefits of Music Therapy for Patients in Critical Care” and again gained the highest mark in the cohort. In December 2021 I started my first nursing post at the Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and gained experience with many level 2 & 3 cardio thoracic patients. During my short time here I was trained to care for a patient with a Berlin Heart. In September 2022 I relocated to Manchester for personal reasons and currently work as a Band 5 nurse at Manchester Royal Infirmary’s General and Major Trauma Intensive Care Unit. I am CVVH trained.I am passionate about making Critical Care as holistic as possible in order to improve patient outcomes.I am currently on maternity leave until at least May 2024 but still open to opportunities coming my way.
