I embraced opportunity to leverage my public relations skills, media and governmental relationships to the benefit of an environmental services nonprofit water utility. In addition, I have reconnected the mission of the organization with the communities served through public outreach and earned media opportunities. This results in raising consumer confidence by positioning RWA as the trusted steward of watershed lands, vital public infrastructure and clean, safe drinking water.► Reenergized community and government outreach to successfully launch a stalled program to rehabilitate a critical piece of 160-year-old infrastructure requiring 60M in construction efforts while leveraging and building relationships to ensure community consensus. ► Launched and executed communications plan throughout fifteen municipalities to ensure government and community engagement and cooperation surrounding a controversial and complicated topic of federal EPA mandated Lead Service Line Replacement. ► Successfully lobbied and advocated for and against policies and decisions at the state and local level in support of RWA mission, goals, and projects. ► Leveraged state, federal and local government relationships to position RWA as an attractive grant recipient and build grant program by identifying new infrastructure funding sources.

I embraced this part-time career opportunity to give back to the community and deliver instruction to a diverse student population in the structure and framework of the American government and the interrelationship between politics on national, state, and local levels. I build lessons to inspire the spirit of volunteerism and public service in students and bring awareness of the need to actively support communities, the state, and the country. ► Maintained class engagement by developing innovative approaches to creating syllabus and lectures, writing exams and quizzes, scheduling guest speakers, and planning activities. ► Recognized for coordinating internships and career opportunities for 103 students as the key to advancing knowledge and careers in the fields of public service, government, and community organizing and outreach. ► Inspired three students to run for office and 122 to become registered voters by stimulating interest in and providing government education.

I was recruited to an inaugural role to create and launch the Center for Living Organ Donors. I serve as the liaison between the hospital and the living organ donor network, design creative marketing campaigns to increase living donor interest, and educate prospective donors and in-need recipients. I have led a team of 11 in managing all aspects of living and deceased, adult and pediatric, kidney and liver transplant operations, and streamlining processes to build an efficient, high-functioning, cross-training work environment. ► Increased living kidney transplants by over 34% in one year, outpacing the national average of 6% by driving opportunities to generate awareness and instituting new programs, such as the developing business-sized cards to educate prospective living donors through everyday contact moments.► Raised liver donor evaluations 100% and kidney donor evaluations by 50% in the first 18 months by creating a donor-centered clinic model. ► United community education with the long-term health of living donors by establishing a formal living donor community.► Introduced lifelong care models for living donors by developing ongoing plans for traditional office visits along with the innovative use of telemedicine, technology platforms, and social networks. ► Promotes awareness and education of living donation by fostering trust in the center's ability to deliver high-quality services unavailable elsewhere in the region and through the development of the living donor ambassador program composed of more than 100 ambassadors.

I was a political appointee chosen to perform municipal outreach and serve as a liaison and information source between state and local governments. I maintained a database for all 169 Connecticut municipalities as well as all elected and appointed leaders. I recorded and tracked legislative and other policy initiatives and strategies at both the state and federal levels and assisted with developing plans, procedures, and guidelines to facilitate incident mitigation in response to emergency management, terrorism preparedness, and public health emergencies up through the national level. ►Earned top score and a $54M award for pilot programs; led the team selected to create and submit the SAFR Connecticut Connections plan to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, National Disaster Resilience Competition. ►Created and chaired the 12-member interagency CT-SAFR, State Agencies Fostering Resilience, affirmed by Governor’s Executive Order Number Fifty to address emergency preparedness, resilience, and recovery across the state.►Made advancements in the areas of emergency preparedness, including developing strategic proposals for resilience and climate adaptation and a statewide template for post-emergency relief and recovery.►Improved the delivery of state services to municipalities, including employing lean processes in the execution of local and state projects, grants, permits, and regulations. ►Initiated an opportunity to collaborate with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to expand critical programs to Connecticut to tackle the economic challenges facing post-industrial cities.►Developed environmental planning approaches to bridge agencies and municipalities; consulted with Yale University to incorporate urban and social ecology knowledge into the vulnerability assessment.

Elected by residents of town with a population of 29,000+ at the age of 32 to collaborate with department heads and administrators to establish priorities and craft an $85M budget used to serve the needs of a community deeply impacted by the Great Recession and housing crisis. Coordinated efforts with state and federal legislative representatives as well as senators to create, lobby, and pass legislation impacting residents of the town and state. Partnered with town fire, police, and EMS in the development of all hazards, emergency management, and municipal continuity plans, assessments, risks, and vulnerability analysis, incident command system integration, emergency communications, education, and drill/exercises. Oversaw all activities spanning finance, personnel, education, police, fire, public works, community and social services, bond issuance, and sanitation. Coordinated volunteer activities within the town government and managed 150 volunteers on various boards and commissions as well as 30 part-time elected officials. Guided and built consensus among 30+ local legislators to adopt budgets, ordinances, programs, and policies needed to maintain and improve the standard of living.► Inherited the budget deficit from the recession of 2000; successfully balanced the budget and implemented the first-ever Fund Balance Ordinance. Developed multiple initiatives to increase the city’s grant funding.► Collaborated with the DOJ and FBI to assess and enhance best practices for the police department, including high-risk and liability procedures, use of force, officer-involved shootings, and management effectiveness; implemented daily 15-minute refresher training videos to be viewed during roll call. ► Partnered with fire, police, and EMS to develop hazard and emergency management, including continuity plans, risk, and vulnerability analysis, incident command system integration, emergency communications, and drills and exercises.
