The undergraduate research internship at Macquaire University offers students the opportunity to pursue various research projects with the potential for that research to be published or presented in conferences around Australia. My research project was conducted within the faculty of law on the civilian uses of pepper spray for self defence. The paper produced from this research had an interdisciplinary focus of law and criminology, consisting primarily of legal analysis of the limits of weaponised self defence and the social consequences of public policy that places high levels of responsibility on citizens.
