I’m an attorney practicing in South Carolina in the areas of corporate, economic development, finance, international, public contracts, and public finance law. In 2015, I retired to senior counsel. Now I have the best of both worlds. I can pursue family and neighborhood objectives and I can pick and choose which legal projects to assume without the pressure of billings and collections. While full-time at Nexsen Pruet, I headed its economic development and public finance teams, and co-chaired our Women's Leadership Initiative. I assisted both government entities and private companies with capital projects by coordinating legal services, particularly financing and state and local tax incentives. Over the years, I became known for assisting clients with cutting-edge financing programs. I participated in the first asset securitization transaction in the nation involving community development block grant loans, as well as one of the first privately enhanced pooled industrial development bond programs. I also closed the first Recovery Zone Facility Bond transaction in South Carolina. I frequently worked with state and local government agencies and business groups on legislative matters and strategic planning for economic development and public finance. I served as President of the South Carolina Economic Developers Association and the Midlands International Trade Association, and I frequently spoke on finance and economic development topics. All of this experience helps me today as I take on community related projects in retirement.
