About Peter Gorayski

🎓 I’m Peter Gorayski, a radiation oncologist working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), Icon Cancer Centres (Windsor Gardens, Tennyson and Noarlunga) and the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research (ABCPTR). My focus is on managing complex cancer cases with the help of advanced technologies.🚀 I also have the privilege of serving as an Associate Professor at the University of South Australia and holding an honorary position at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). At RAH, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to the integration of automation and machine learning in radiation oncology. I helped develop prostate stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) and established the Rapid Access Palliative Radiotherapy Service (RAPRS) to provide timely care to patients in need.🔬 My research is aimed at improving cancer treatment, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence for better tumour and normal tissue segmentation, and model-based selection in proton therapy. My goal is always to enhance treatment planning and outcomes for patients.💡 Mentoring and education are also important to me. I’m involved in mentoring radiation oncology trainees at RAH, supervising postgraduate and PhD students at UniSA, and participating in the TROG Scientific Committee. I’ve been part of the RANZCR Particle Therapy Working Group for several years, and I was involved in setting up the ABCPTR Consumer Advisory Group, as I believe strongly in keeping patients at the center of our work.🔄 Additionally, I offer comparative photon/proton planning for patients under the Medical Treatment Overseas Program (MTOP) to help them access the best possible treatment options. I’m committed to advancing the field of radiation oncology through both research and patient care, always striving to do better.
