Our startup aims to modernize the field of sericulture, i.e., the production of silk through the rearing of silkworms. Currently, sericulture depends on availability of fresh leaves, is labor intensive, and lacks the use of automation. Unlike conventional sericulture, our approach doesn't rely on feeding fresh leaves from host plants to silkworms. Instead, our novel diet for silkworms allows us to upcycle agricultural waste into silk and protein-rich food products. In order to modernize the field, we are developing CNC-based robots and machine learning algorithms that automate every aspect of the silkworm-rearing process. Additionally, we are investigating the potential applications of silkworm-derived materials such as sericin, fibroin, and chitin in advanced technological fields.
